Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using Merge (the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Merge is a social mobility and activities platform that helps verified university students discover and coordinate group activities and shared rides within a campus-scoped community. Merge provides tools for students to find one another, form groups, chat, and agree on plans. Merge Campus is not a transportation carrier, taxi service, or rideshare operator. We do not employ drivers, own or operate vehicles, or provide transportation. Any ride or activity is arranged directly between users, who are solely responsible for it.

3. Eligibility and accounts

• The Service is intended for verified university students. Access is gated to a qualifying university email, and you must meet any verification requirements we set.
• Sign-in is passwordless: you authenticate through a secure magic link sent to your university email. An account is required to use the Service.
• You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for activity under your account. Keep access to your email secure.

4. Community conduct

You agree not to:

• Harass, threaten, deceive, or harm other users.
• Misrepresent your identity, student status, or intentions.
• Use the Service for unlawful activity or to facilitate unsafe behavior.
• Post false, misleading, or infringing content.
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service.
• Use the Service for commercial transportation, solicitation, or spam.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms or threaten community safety.

5. Activities, rides, and contributions

Users arrange activities and rides directly with one another, including timing, location, pickup, and any agreed contribution toward shared costs. Any price set on a ride is intended to help offset the cost of a shared trip, not to operate a for-profit transportation service. You are responsible for complying with applicable laws, for your own safety, and for honoring the activities and rides you agree to. We encourage you to review our Trust & Safety guidance before meeting anyone.

Ratings and reports

The Service includes trust scores, user-to-user ratings, and reporting. You agree to use these features honestly and in good faith. We may use ratings and reports to calculate standing, review conduct, and remove or suspend members who threaten community safety.

6. Your content

You retain ownership of the content you submit. You grant Merge Campus a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and use that content as needed to operate and improve the Service. You are responsible for the content you post and confirm you have the rights to share it.

7. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not guarantee the conduct of any user. Because interactions and rides occur in the real world, you use the Service and meet other users at your own risk.

8. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Merge Campus and its affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising out of activities, rides, or interactions arranged through the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the claim.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these terms or to protect the community. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
